Path of Perfection. Convents and Monasteries of the Community of Madrid promoted by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage represents the first work published where all the examples that are conserved within this category are collected, both in the capital and in the province, focusing on the broad period covered between the late Middle Ages and the first third of the XNUMXth century.
This publication supposes the accreditation of the important work carried out by the Community of Madrid to guarantee the protection and conservation of the Ecclesiastical Heritage through the declarations as Asset of Cultural Interest and Asset of Heritage Interest and of the interventions made within the Agreement of Collaboration with the Ecclesiastical Province of Madrid. The Directorate General of Cultural Heritage encourages the historical heritage to become the best resource to understand our history and our society, and to know ourselves. Starting from this criterion, with this publication we want to show the enormous patrimonial wealth of the monasteries and convents that are conserved in the Community of Madrid, while providing a complete vision that integrates all the values that they possess.
The publication is composed of 8 individualized studies, perfectly drawn by their authors and imbricated among themselves, containing not only information circumscribed to foundations, their achievements and problems, but also about their heritage and the urban space where they were interspersed.
In addition, the characteristics of each property are analyzed in detail, focusing on its most significant details and which respond to examples of the most eloquent and revealing conventual architecture in our Community.
