Azulejo in homage to Iván Fandiño
The Community of Madrid paid homage to the bullfighter Iván Fandiño, who was discovered a tile on the ground floor of 1 in the presence of relatives, people of the bull, fans and members of the Bullfighting Center in an emotional ceremony.
The ceramics recall the more than 30 paseo de Fandiño in Madrid's La Monumental, his departure on his shoulders in 2014 and the historic bullfight as the only sword in 2015. "An example of courage, stoicism and heroism", says the tile that becomes part of the walls and history of Las Ventas. Tribute to an uncompromising life given completely to the bull that reached its end, tragically, with a goring, on June 17, 2017 in the French square of Aire Sur L'Adour. Until then, Iván Fandiño had become, by virtue of pride, one of the most beloved and respected bullfighters by the Madrid fans. Memorable was his Puerta Grande on May 13, 2014. The idyll between the bullfighter from Orduña and Las Ventas started from his presentation in the capital, on September 12, 2004, afternoon in which he cut, still as a bullfighter, one of the thirteen ears that he added in the first place in the world. Since then, he earned the title of “bullfighter of Madrid”. The first ear as a bullfighter would arrive, precisely, at the 2010 Community Fair, before a bull by Guardiola Fantoni. The dress of that afternoon, donated by the right-hander's family, is on display at the Las Ventas Bullfighting Museum.
