La Ventana del Cine Madrileño is an initiative to support the Madrid film sector, organized by the Community of Madrid in collaboration with AMA (Madrid Audiovisual Association) and the Madrid City Council. Its objective is to create an annual framework to promote collaboration and co-production of feature films with companies and professionals from other geographical areas and to open up a future of possible alliances and co-productions for Madrid projects, as well as to expand the diffusion of cinema produced in Madrid by attracting the foreign investment through the promotion of filming in the Community of Madrid.

During the days of celebration are scheduled papers, round tables and discussions, in addition to the forum of co-productions, central element of the window that promotes the meeting of producers from Madrid with international counterparts.

La Ventana del Cine Madrileño is also a platform for promoting filming. It always includes activities in its programming to promote the attraction of filming. The main event of this 8th edition, which takes place on October 5 and 6, consists of the public presentation of the selected projects. Along with the pitch of projects and the meetings between producers, round tables are also held, activities that promote Madrid as a filming and post-production location, as well as different networking activities with Madrid as the setting. 

 

2022 edition

El International Development and Co-production Forum CineMad Window has already announced the dates and the venue where its eighth edition: October 5 and 6 at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. It has also revealed the 16 projects fiction feature film, documentary and TV series (fiction and animation) that will participate in this essential appointment for the audiovisual industry. A committee of experts has selected these projects from among the 117 registered (30% more than in the last edition) based on their quality and artistic value, international potential, financial viability y relationship with the Madrid region.

 

Between the 16 selected projects, seven are fiction feature films, four are TV series (two fiction and two animation) and five are documentaries. From them, six are run by women and ten are written or co-written by women. These projects will qualify for 60.000 € in prizes to distribute between the different categories, €15.000 more than in the last edition. 

 

Fiction feature films: 50 picograms by David Pérez Sañudo (Amania Films, La Claqueta PC and Picogramos Film AIE), To face by Javier Marco (Briograf Capital AIE), Ouli the dog by Daniel Lovecchio (TYL Scenic Productions AIE), Mr Nobody (Outcast) by Miguel Ángel Calvo Buttini (PC axis jump), Flowers for an absent mother by Ana Puentes (Verbena Films), I will not die of love by Marta Matute (Solita Films), The descendent by Fernando Pérez (Federation Entertainment España SL, BTeam Prods, Rexin Film). 

 

T.V. series: The Killing Method by Francisco Silva Carvalho (Atlantika Films - fiction), mr trance by Valerio Veneras (El Recreo Estudios SL - fiction), Zebra with Polka Dots (Polka dot Zebra) by Helena Perim (Sygnatia SL - animation), My Brother is a T-Rez dand Javier Peces (Mr. Klaus Studio SL - animation).

 

Documentaries:Lionel by Carlos Saiz (Blur, Amaya Izquierdo and Mario Forniés), Code Mark by Patricia Pérez and Liena Cid (La Terraza Films), Couple Climbers. 7 countries, 7 peaks, 1 purpose by Carlos D'Ursi (Potenza Productions), What we did in the shadows by Lucía Hernández and Sara Moralo (Garde and Synopsis), the glass barrier by Nerea Barros (Doc Land Films).

 

El expert committee that has made the selection has been made up of professionals: Carlos Beem, animation expert; Mercedes Alvarez, Film director; Conchi Cascajosa, teacher; Luis Angel Ramirez, producer; Maria Jose Martin, producer; Y Xavier Attance, producer. 

 

As a novelty, Ventana CineMad expands its network of collaborations with international events and one of the selected projects will participate in TorinoFilmLab Next 2023.

 

Some of the successful projects that have passed through other editions of Ventana CineMad are: my brother Ali directed by Paula Palacios, recently selected in Los Angeles by the International Documentary Association as an IDA/Netflix Global Emerging Filmmaker; five wolves, premiered at the Berlinale, directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa; little pig, premiered at Sundance, directed by Carlota Pereda; Josephine, premiered at the San Sebastian Festival, directed by Javier Marco Rico; La vida eso, premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival, directed by David Martín de los Santos. 

 

CineMad Window Laboratory

Thanks to the Aid to Laboratories and Incubators for the creation of audiovisual project development from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, All the selected projects will receive in this edition a boost in their national and international training through the intense program CineMad Window Lab. This program will be presented at San Sebastian International Film Festival and in the Toronto International Film Festival.

 

It is directed both at directors and directors of the selected projects as well as producers and producers. It will take place over three months with training that includes the work of national and international experts and aspects related to script, financing National and international, pitch training, distribution National and international, strategy in festivals, marketing, communication and audience design.

 

CineMad Window Laboratory is organized by WADA, is financed by the ICAA (Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts) and the support of PIAF y EGEDA. It is a project financed by the European Union Next Generation USA.
