The Short Film Week becomes the big screen for short films in the Community of Madrid. It began its journey in 1999 as a Short Film Showcase subsidized by the Community of Madrid. Two decades have passed and in this time the show has become a festival and a prominent event for the dissemination of shorter films. It has grown little by little, always trying to meet two fundamental objectives: the promotion of short films to the general public and being a professional meeting point for the sector. The figures speak for themselves: in 2018, 65 municipalities participated and the birth in 2017 of the Professional Short Film Forum has been the culmination of a process of introducing professional activities over time.

The Short Film Week consists of three fundamental axes:

  • The projections that have as central point the official section but where special sessions are also included.
  • Training activities, an essential element of the Week through workshops and meetings with great professionals who explain the keys to their work.
  • The impulse to meet the sector through the Professional Forum of the Short Film created in 2017 in collaboration with the ECAM (School of Cinematography and Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid.
