Debt Structure at year-end 2023
The debt portfolio of the Community of Madrid closed the 2023 financial year with a structure similar to that of previous years, predominating debt in securities, at a fixed rate and in euros. The Community of Madrid has continued to formalize its new debt through loans, given the high uncertainty in the capital markets. However, the amortization of previous operations has caused the weight of this type of instrument to reduce (1,8 percentage points), as opposed to securities, with a higher fixed rate portfolio composition (+5,6 p.p. ). The strategy of extending the average life of previous years has made it possible to limit the impact of the rise in the yield curve on the average cost of the portfolio, maintaining an average life of more than 8 years.
Distribution of the debt issued 2024
The Community of Madrid has managed to successfully place, in the first two months of the year, 92% of all of its financing needs for the year 2024, with great diversity by type of investor and country of origin.
