Exhibition "Allegory of Vanity"
Lope's house hosts this piece that refers us to the theatrical and literary life of the author's Madrid and from the Monastery of Las Descalzas Reales in Madrid and by an anonymous author. María Inés Calderón was the famous actress to whom love affairs with Felipe IV are attributed. If this were her image, it would be one of the few known pictorial representations of Golden Age actors, along with the portrait of Juan Rana preserved by the Royal Spanish Academy. It is known that it dates from the first third of the XNUMXth century, although its author is unknown.
The piece is exhibited in the Studio, Lope's place of work and reading, where some of his best-known pieces came from. In this space you can also see the portrait of Lope, deposit of the Valencia Institute of Don Juan, which is permanently exhibited.
Special visits are made on Thursdays and Fridays at 13.00:XNUMX p.m. to publicize this guest piece. To attend it is necessary to register in advance through the museum's website.
