Visual Arts Program 2024

La Alcalá 31 Hall Once again, it hosts Madrid31, a continuing artistic training program that is articulated through conferences and workshops with the aim of completing those aspects that are not specifically included in the academic programs linked to the arts and visual culture.

In the 2024 edition, under the title "Studies of flesh and gesture", we will take a journey that moves away from the terrain of appearances. We are going to leave the history of images where the history of the body has normally been created to penetrate the depth that makes it up.

During the sessions we will reflect on shapes, superstitions, desires, fear, whims, emotions and sensations through the personal vision of Mercedes Azpilicueta, June Crespo, Niño de Elche, Sahatsa Jauregi, Isabel de Naverán and Albert Serra, chosen because of the relationship of the topic with his work and research. With all of them we are going to claim and resort to a thought and a way of learning and teaching based on individual stories, obsessions, experimentalism and stylistic diversity to detect other realities around the body that go beyond the look and the skin.

All workshops begin with a conference open to the general public in the auditorium of the Sala Alcalá 31 of the Community of Madrid, and continue with two days of workshop, which will take place in the spaces of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in the morning, and for which it is necessary to reserve in advance.
