What is PublicaMadrid
Showcase and online catalog of publications published by the Community of Madrid.
It offers information both about the Catalog of titles available in any medium ─whether New Publishers or Upcoming Works─, as well as about the Virtual Library, a repository with digital versions of works, for consultation, reading or downloading online.
Post Finder
Post search edited by the Community of Madrid
La Virtual Library of the Community of Madrid (BVCM) is a repository that allows the consult, read or download of the digital versions of the edited works, in any of the electronic file formats of the online publications: PDF, EPUB, ZIP, ISO, Mobile Application or WEB.
These works can be read or downloaded directly by clicking on See publication, both in the search results of PublicaMadrid as in the complete catalog file of the work.
PublicaMadrid contains a semantic search engine, in which it is not necessary to indicate the exact term searched for, since it allows the results to be classified by significant categories (subjects, labels, digital, availability, supports, collections, authors, organizations, type of fund, year of publication... ), and refine the search. As selected, filters are displayed (and removed) in the header. It also offers the word suggestion functionality, since the titles of the already indexed contents are offered
Every post counts in your catalog file with a series of descriptive fields that facilitate searches and that in some cases are also hyperlinks: reference, title, Author, promoter/co-editor, collection, support, format, year of publication, ISBN, ISSN, legal deposit, pages, type of fund, distribution, extract, origin promoter, metadata, in addition to the image of the cover or cover and, usually, the link See publication to the version of the Virtual Library, for consultation, reading or download. In your case, consult How to open and read a publication in ePub format.
What is the Catalog of Publications
PublicaMadrid is the constantly updated online catalog of regional publications.
On-line catalogue: ACCESS
A catalog with the available titles
The Catalog of Publications collects all the published editorial collection available, in original format or in digital version, edited by the Departments and Organizations of the Community of Madrid, as well as the works planned for the next appearance.
The Catalog does not include the works discontinued, due to obsolescence or lack of available copy, which however can be consulted in the library network.
The Catalog includes works published in physical media, such as books or brochures on paper or disks or usb, of which there are still copies available, but also titles with out-of-print copies but of which there are accessible digital copies in the Virtual Library.
In the Catalog, a growing percentage of the works are online publications, born in digital formats, which can either be downloaded, such as titles in EPUB, PDF, ZIP, ISO or Mobile Application format, or for exclusive consultation and reading online, such as publications in WEB format, which cannot be downloaded.

How to open and read a publication in ePub format
The ePub digital format is a standard for the edition of electronic publications, like the PDF, but unlike the latter, it allows the text to be resized and flowed, adapting to any screen and allowing for more comfortable reading. It is the most common format used by digital publishers and the best adapted to the mobile Reading, with smaller screens.
To read the ePub format, we must access the file through some reading device, which is what conditions the way of reading. In principle, all reader devices electronic ink (e-readers) ─except Kindles from the Amazon ecosystem─ are capable of reading the ePub format: simply copy the file to the device or, if there is a browser option, download it from the web.
If you want to read in a mobile or tablet with Android or iOS you have to download it or copy it first and open it later through a reading application installed from an official store, where there are both free and paid ones. For Android the free ones can be recommended FBReader (configuration in spanish), Google Play Books, Moon + Reader, Periodically o eBiblio. In Apple iOS the most widespread is iBooks, (now Books) although there is also a version of FBReader.
If the file has been downloaded to a desktop computer, can be opened and read in various ways. If the computer has MAX Madrid_Linux you can use the Book Viewer appearing in Office, which is nothing but a version of FBReader.
The program Caliber, once installed on any operating system, allows both reading ─using a viewer─ and editing ─using an editor─ as well as converting electronic books from one format to another and managing a personal digital library. Another possibility is the open program Thorion Reader (2021). You can also read ePub2 or ePub3 with your browser by installing the Chrome extension Readium or by EPUB Reader, which is also available for various browsers. In the Google ecosystem, ePubs can be uploaded and read through the Chrome browser, accessing the personal account, at Google Play Books.
Distribution of publications
The distribution of the publications is carried out through digital diffusion, in the Virtual Library of PublicaMadrid, or through the distribution of physical copies by institutional distribution, if they are free works, or commercial distribution y sale, if they have a retail price. There are direct sales points in the Community of Madrid and also distribution in the network of commercial bookstores.
The works of institutional distribution, not venal or Returns, are titles that are distributed free of charge, either through digital dissemination in the Virtual Library, or by some body of copies in physical support, such as books or brochures on paper, disks or USB, upon duly justified request by the interested party.
