
Registry of De facto Unions
Register in which people who live together freely, publicly and notoriously, linked in a stable manner for at least an uninterrupted period of twelve months, existing a relationship of affectivity, may register, provided they voluntarily decide.
I want to register
The requirements for couples to register in the Registry of Domestic Partnerships have been modified. As of December 23, 2022, applicants for an appointment must present a joint registration certificate at the same address for a period of 12 months immediately prior to the date of registration and have their residence in the Community of Madrid.
The registration process in the Registry in 6 steps:
1. MEET REQUIREMENTS
Read the requirements. If you meet them you can register:
- Being of legal age or an emancipated minor.
- Be registered at the same address for an uninterrupted period of twelve months immediately prior to the date of application for registration and have their residence in the Community of Madrid.
- Marital status: Single, widowed, divorced or legally separated.
- The members of the couple are not linked by kinship (up to the third degree).
- Do not form a de facto union with another person.
- The de facto union must not be registered in the Registry of another Autonomous Community.
- Not be affected by a mental deficiency or anomaly that does not allow valid consent to the union.
2. SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION
Remember:
- Presents the original of the documentation in any of the Registration Assistance Offices or by electronic means.
- If you submit a copy of the documentation in the Registration Assistance Offices, the day of the appointment to register You must provide the originals to be checked.
- If you submit the documents electronically, you must attend the day of the appointment to register with the originals to be checked.
Gather the following documentation and present it together with the appointment request form:
- Proof of payment of the fee (model 030). It will be presented on the day of registration in the Register of De facto Unions.
- NIF or NIE, complete Passport or Residence Card (documents that are in force) of the applicants.
- Certification* of the municipal register (issued by the Town Hall of the municipal area where they reside). Flyers will not be accepted. Your contribution will not be necessary if your consultation is authorized in the application model. Remember that if in the consultation a registration period of less than twelve months is obtained or there is no data, you must provide a certificate of historical registration.
For the accreditation of the twelve months of joint registration of the members of the union, the certificates of Registers of Domestic Partnerships of any Autonomous Community or country belonging to the European Union validly issued, as well as the certificates of registration in any municipality will be valid. - Authorization signed for the consultation of personal data and presentation of the application. The authorization will be completed only when the application is submitted through a representative.

Literal certificate of previous marriage and Literal death certificate of the deceased spouse.
- For foreigners:
Divorced, annulled or legally separated:
Literal certificate of the previous marriage with the marginal annotation of the divorce, annulment or legal separation.
Groups of Singles:
Certificate of marital capacity or certificate of singleness, depending on what is established by the law of your country.
widowers:
Literal certificate of previous marriage and Literal death certificate of the deceased spouse.
The original of the foreign documentation, or documentation issued by the foreign consular services in Spain, must be duly legalized (legalization can only be carried out by the General Directorate of Consular Affairs and Protection of Spaniards Abroad, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation) except in cases where the country issuing the document has signed an International Agreement with Spain that exempts it from such a requirement. Only original documentation will be accepted.
All documents issued in a language other than Spanish must be translated by a Sworn Translator-Interpreter appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (for this you can consult the list of sworn translators-interpreters in office at www.maec.es and in turn, embassies, consulates and notaries have sworn translators authorized for this purpose).
* The Certificates will be valid for three months from their issuance, having to comply with this validity requirement on the date of the presentation of the appointment request for registration in the Registry of Domestic Partnerships.
* The Certificate of civil status must be issued by the country that coincides with the nationality with which you register.

3. THE REGISTRY RESPONSES
The Registry will analyze all the documentation presented:
- If the documentation is complete, you will receive by SMS the registration appointment (the assigned date is not subject to change).
- If the documentation is not complete, you will receive an email indicating how to proceed.
4. PAY FEE
pay the fee with an advance of between 2 and 7 days, prior to the day of registration and present proof of payment on the day of registration in the Register of Domestic Partnerships.

5. DAY OF THE PERSONAL SIGNING
On the day of the appointment, go to the Registry with your partner to sign the registration application.
On the day of the registration appointment, the members of the de facto union will appear personally and jointly, in the building at C/ Los Madrazo, 34, ground floor.
The personal and joint appearance of the members of the union on the day of the appointment will be mandatory, also in those cases in which the appointment was requested electronically.
The maximum capacity of the registration room is two people, identified by DNI, Passport or Residence Card in force.
If the documentation is incomplete or not entirely correct on the day of your appointment, you will have ten business days to correct it, counted from the day after registration.
6. RESOLUTION
Signed the application for registration before the person in charge of the Registry:
You will receive notification of the Registration Resolution, within a period of 15 business days, as follows:
- Electronically, through the Telematic Notifications service (NOTE). Sign in at NOTES to sign up for the service.
- Exceptionally by certified mail to the address that you have indicated in the registration application.

Tax payment
Payment must be made prior to the provision of the Service, recommending for registration in the Registry of Domestic Partnerships, payment of the fee (€82,12) between 2 and 7 days in advance, prior to the day of registration in the Registry of Commonwealth of the Community of Madrid.
To obtain certificates by electronic payment of fees and in-person collection, go to the Register of Domestic Partnerships 48 hours after the electronic payment, since until then we cannot verify the income.

You can settle the fee in several ways:
