Accessibility Plan
The Regional Government's Metro Accessibility Plan is endowed with an investment of 141,1 million euros, which will make it possible to act on the Suburban network by installing 16 lifts and improving 29 stations.
The objective is to meet the mobility needs of all Madrid residents, especially the 322.000 people with disabilities who live in the Community. The works on the Sol station elevator is the first of the actions of this 2016-2020 plan, which have already been carried out, which has made it possible to make the six platforms of this station accessible to all travellers. The Plan has been agreed with the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (CERMI).
This new plan will make it possible to make 73% of the Metro network fully accessible for people with reduced mobility, compared to the current 63%. In this way, it will go from 189 to 218 fully accessible stations, out of a total of 301 that make up the Metro network.
In 2018, the installation of the lifts in Príncipe Pío (Line 10, 6 and Ramal) and Barrio de la Concepción (Line 7) will be completed. Lifts will also be installed at Plaza Elíptica (Line 6), Príncipe de Vergara (Line 2), Portazgo (L1), Bilbao (L4), Gran Vía (L5), Pavones (L9) and Tribunal (L6) stations.
