ALCALÁ DE HENARES INTERCHANGER
Work: 1st phase 1986/88, 2nd phase 1989/90
The disappearance of the station building and its replacement by another located out of sight from any street in the city, eliminated the importance of this urban landmark.
The stair tower provides a hollow volume on which an upper finishing body has been arranged to support a clock and a temperature indicator.
Another fundamental element is the new landscaped square, which was established in an urban area of great vitality. In the center of the garden there was a fountain surrounded by a bench. In the surroundings there are suitable areas for the installation of press kiosks, drinks, terraces, etc.
Two basic materials are used in the design of the walkway, stairs, ramps, walls and canopies: concrete and steel.
The 3 parking lots were designed in such a way that they would be very wooded, even to the detriment of the number of spaces (324). Bus traffic and parking became independent, with a covered stop with a large canopy accessible from both sides.
To the north of the tracks, a promenade for pedestrians and vehicles was built, which connects to the west with Parque del Ángel street, and another street to the north was left open, pending the future planning of the area.
GETAFE INTERCHANGER
Work: 1st phase 1987/88, 2nd phase 1988/90
In the first phase, an underpass was built under the tracks, and the adjacent streets were urbanized, creating a car park and landscaped areas.
In the 2nd phase, the Renfe station was remodeled, creating a new cafeteria in a separate building, a square and a car park.
