Road maintenance strategy 2018-2021
The objective of this investment is to improve the characteristics of the roads owned by the Community of Madrid, so as to increase road safety and improve traffic comfort.
The Community of Madrid will invest with the new Road Conservation Strategy more than €160 million in the improvement and conservation of the more than 2.500 kilometers of circulation roads owned by the autonomous community between 2018 and 2021.
This measure contributes to promoting territorial rebalancing, supporting the Madrid municipalities so that they have the best infrastructures and improve the quality of life and safety of the people of Madrid.
It has been designed through five major axes to keep the tracks in perfect condition. One of them includes the reinforcement and rehabilitation of pavements, to which €60,5 million will be allocated in this period with the aim of increasing the safety and comfort of traffic for users. This investment will mean that new asphalt is laid practically in half of the 2.500 kilometers of roads. This year alone, more than 100 of these actions will be carried out in different sections.
The second most prominent axis of the Strategy is that corresponding to conservation and exploitation, endowed with €61,9 million.
For its part, the structure maintenance and repair contract will allow the more than 1.120 viaducts, bridges and footbridges present in the region's road network to be reviewed and left in the best conditions with a budget of €21,82 million. Meanwhile, another €12,5 million will be invested in the maintenance of the network's traffic light and lighting installations.
Finally, the fifth axis focuses on the conditioning and conservation actions of the crossings, margins and islets with an allocation of €4,9 million.
