Authorizations for intercity public transport by taxi (VT)

They are needed if you are the holder of a municipal taxi license.

The authorization for public passenger transport in a self-taxi tourism vehicle (VT) is necessary to carry out public passenger transport, both urban and interurban, throughout the national territory.

General Information

The Administration grants one authorization per vehicle.

You must have your vehicles domiciled in the Community of Madrid and be the holder of a municipal autotaxi license granted by one of the Madrid City Councils.

With these authorizations you will be able to carry out services, both urban and interurban, throughout the national territory.

Authorization Requirements

What requirements must be fulfilled?

As holder:

You will have to be a natural person with Spanish nationality or from a Member State of the European Union.

Your vehicles:

You will have to have at least one vehicle that is up to two years old from its first registration, under ownership or financial lease.

In addition, you must:

Comply with the fiscal, labor and social obligations required by current legislation.
Have an address and electronic signature, as well as the necessary computer equipment to remotely document the contract and other commercial formalities with their clients.
Have a number of drivers at least equal to the number of licenses you have that have the municipal permit to practice the profession.
Have civil liability coverage for damages that you may cause during transport, up to at least the amount of 50 million euros.
Have a domicile in Spain, with the company's documentation.

Can they be transferred to another owner?

Can vehicles be replaced?

You can replace your vehicle with another as long as the replacement vehicle is not older than two years, counted from its first registration, or is not older than the replaced vehicle.

Said substitution must have been previously authorized by the City Council that granted the municipal license.
