What is volunteering?
A person who carries out volunteering activities is considered a volunteer, according to Law 1/2015, of February 24, on Volunteering in the Community of Madrid.
Volunteering is the set of activities of general interest carried out by natural persons within public or private organizations, which are free, gratuitous and supportive, without any personal obligation or legal duty.

How can we inform and advise you?
We inform and guide citizens interested in carrying out voluntary activities, organizations that need collaboration and advice for the development of their solidarity projects, and companies that want to promote voluntary actions within their corporate social responsibility.
This information and advice service is run by the Volunteer Information Point of the Community of Madrid, in person, by telephone and telematically.
It is located at the headquarters of the Directorate General for Integration at calle Jardines nº 4 in Madrid and is part of the Information Point Network (PIV) with municipalities, associations, public universities, socio-cultural centers and sports clubs in the region.

Rights and duties of the volunteer
The volunteer has the following rights, among others, to agree freely with the volunteer organization on the contents and conditions of the volunteer activity, to be treated without discrimination, respecting their freedom, dignity and right to privacy and to carry out their activity in safe conditions and hygiene, to be insured against the risks of accident and illness, to freely leave the volunteer organization to which they are linked, to have a volunteer accreditation, to have their activity certified by the volunteer organization and that it comply with the regulations regarding the protection of personal data, to receive permanent training, and all those derived from Law 1/2015, of February 24, on Volunteering in the Community of Madrid and the rest of the legal system.
The duties, among others, are to comply with the contents and conditions of the activity freely agreed with the volunteer organization, respect the inspiring principles contemplated in the law, respect the rights and freedoms of those who are recipients of volunteer activities, have identifying accreditation of your volunteer status when you carry out such activity, and keep, when appropriate, confidentiality of the information received and known in the development of your volunteer activity.
Volunteer Strategy 2017-2021
The priority of the Volunteering Strategy is the promotion of the commitment and participation of citizens in voluntary actions aimed at the general interest.
