Gender Violence
Violence against women is a violation of human rights that does not respect geographical, cultural or economic borders.
It is directed towards women for the very fact of being women, for being considered by their aggressors as people lacking the minimum rights of freedom and respect. Violence against minors and other dependents of women is also considered gender-based violence. In compliance with the Law, the Community of Madrid has been developing a whole set of care measures and programs for victims of gender violence that have led to the consolidation of a complete comprehensive care network for gender violence.
Am I a victim of abuse?
When a woman is immersed in a process of abuse, it is difficult for her to discern whether she really is or not.
Most common warning signs to recognize gender violence
You are a victim of gender violence when your partner...
- He isolates you from your family environment and your friends, laughs at you and criticizes you in front of them.
- It humiliates and disqualifies you.
- Control the money and make the decisions.
- He does not usually take you into account when making decisions that affect you or your family.
- He threatens you if you say you're leaving the relationship, and uses blackmail to keep you from doing so (I will take your children, you will be alone, etc.).
- Ignore your feelings.
- He makes you believe that not agreeing with him is not loving him.
- Forces or forces you to have sex.
- He hits or kicks you, slaps you, pulls your hair...
- Threatens you with weapons or other objects.
- You start to suffer: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, non-specific pain.
Remember that GENDER VIOLENCE is cyclical, it repeats itself and it always gets worse.
