
Destruction of illegal drugs
Products considered medicines, but which have not been evaluated or authorized by the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products, must be withdrawn from the market and destroyed by the company responsible for them.
Procedures to be carried out by the company
Medications are assimilable to non-hazardous waste, but its destruction must be carried out through an authorized hazardous waste management company, in order to have proof of traceability.
You can check the list of companies registered in the Registry of Hazardous Waste Managers Community of Madrid.
If the medicines subject to destruction have been previously immobilized by the Ministry of Health:
1.- The company responsible for them must request in writing the demobilization for their destruction indicating:
- Declaration of the withdrawal of all existing copies on the market, presenting for this:
- Manufacturing document with the number of units.
- Relationship of distributed product and customers.
- List of product withdrawn from customers.
- Company in charge of managing medicines for their destruction.
- Authorization of the carrier and transfer plant of the products for their destruction.
- Waste Acceptance Document by the management company.
- Waste shipment notification.
- Control and monitoring document prior to destruction.
- In the event that the transporter is not a waste manager, he must present the supporting document for delivery to the plant.
2.- The General Directorate of Sanitary Inspection and Regulation will notify the Resolution of demobilization of the products for their destruction by the selected company.
3.- The company will send the Control and Monitoring Document duly completed by the destruction plant to the General Directorate of Sanitary Inspection and Regulation.
