Accreditation for the indication, use and authorization of dispensing medicines and health products for human use

The indication, use and authorization for the dispensing of medicines and health products for human use by nurses is an activity that is considered effective and efficient, as it allows optimizing resources and improving the satisfaction of users of health services. .

By Order No. 469/21, of April 16, of the Ministry of Health, The Community of Madrid regulated the accreditation procedure for the indication, use and authorization of dispensing medicines and health products for human use, in the field of general care and certain specialized care by nurses from centers and organizations affiliated or linked to the Madrid Health Service, as well as those affiliated or linked to entities with which the Madrid Health Service has signed specific agreements for the management of health care.

The "DECREE 117/2022, of November 2, of the Governing Council, which regulates the procedure by which nurses can be accredited, in the Community of Madrid, for the indication, use and authorization of the dispensing of medicines and health products for human use, both in the field of general care as specialized care”, is applicable to all nurses who carry out their professional activity in the public or private sector, both in the field of general care and specialized care, in the territory of the Community of Madrid.

Nurses who, working in the Community of Madrid, have more than one year of professional practice and have not yet obtained it, can apply for accreditation, taking into account the following: 

  1. Nurses who provide their services in public health centers attached to or linked to the Madrid Health Service will be accredited ex officio, so they do not need to submit any application.
  2. Nurses who obtained accreditation under Order 469/2021, of April 16, of the Ministry of Health, no need to apply since they are accredited by Resolution of November 24, 2021, of the General Directorate of Research, Teaching and Documentation (BOCM No. 285 of November 30, 2021), the one already obtained being understood to be fully valid and current. If they do not have a year of professional practice, nurses may take a course offered free of charge by the Ministry of Health or wait for a year of professional practice to obtain accreditation.
