documentary collections
A specialized library in the European Union
The library of the European Documentation Center, specialized in issues of the European Union and Europe in general, mainly has monographs and periodicals.
The library is part of Portal of Specialized Libraries.
It has books on the history and culture of Europe, on European integration, the functioning of its institutions, the founding treaties and community law, the policies over which the EU has powers, as well as essays on the idea of Europe, its current situation or its future.
It has a specific section for preparing for oppositions to EU institutions and a language section with learning books for English, French, German and Italian. It also has a narrative section and includes a collection of informative brochures from European institutions.
The documentary collection is continually updated. Currently, it has more than 12.000 specimens that constitute a reference collection of high value in its specialty.
The library has a section specialized in the preparation of oppositions to the EU institutions that includes:
- Workbooks to prepare abstract, numerical and verbal reasoning tests
- Books to prepare for the interview
- Books for the development of skills, etc.
There are no agendas per se. To learn about the functioning and policies of the EU, you can consult the fund's books and brochures.
To pass the entrance tests to the EU institutions you must have a high level of knowledge of a second European language, in particular English, French or German. For this reason, a language section has been created with learning books for English, French, German and Italian. In addition, we have books on the different EU policies, integration, environment, employment, etc. in other languages (mainly English). The library also has dictionaries of the different official languages of the EU.
Narrative is a good way to understand history. This section proposes the reading of a selection of literary works that deal with relevant events in European history and culture with the intention that the reader knows, through these novels, the process of building the European Union.
