
Accreditation to teach the advanced English curriculum. Course 2020/2021.
The Ministry of Education, Universities, Science and Spokesperson develops the bilingual program as an essential tool for students to achieve linguistic competence that contributes to excellence in their training and facilitates their professional insertion in a globalized intercultural environment. In order for the bilingual program to have the necessary level of excellence, the teaching staff that participate in it must have the appropriate linguistic competence. In order to guarantee their professional suitability, the procedure for obtaining accreditation to teach the advanced English curriculum in bilingual institutes and private centers authorized to teach bilingual education in Compulsory Secondary Education is regulated.
Who can take part?
Periodically, the Ministry of Education, Universities, Science and Spokesperson makes a call, in which applications, deadlines, documentation, qualifications and requirements are specified.
In general, to participate, one of the following requirements must be met:
- Being a civil servant or intern in the Corps of Professors and Secondary Education Teachers specializing in English.
- Being a career official of the Teachers Corps of the specialty of Foreign Language: English with a definitive destination in Secondary Education Institutes.
- Be a member of the current lists of applicants to hold temporary teaching positions in the specialty of English of the Corps of Secondary Education Teachers of the Community of Madrid.
- Be a teacher at a private center approved in the Community of Madrid and meet the qualification requirements to teach English Language in Secondary Education.
- Accredit a contracting commitment with a concerted private center authorized to provide bilingual education, in the Community of Madrid, and meet the qualification requirements to teach English Language in Secondary Education.

The latest annual call is available on the portal staff +education, of the General Directorate of Human Resources.
Ways to obtain accreditation to teach the advanced English curriculum
- For passing the aptitude test.
- For being in possession of specific qualifications
Procedure for obtaining accreditation to teach the advanced English curriculum by passing the aptitude test.
- Oral test.
Presentation and defense before the Court of a didactic unit, lasting no more than 15 minutes.
- Test result.
The final grade will be “apt” or “fail”.
Procedure for obtaining accreditation to teach the advanced English curriculum for being in possession of qualifications.
Candidates who have official master's or doctoral degrees completed in English in the fields detailed below may obtain accreditation upon request:
- Literary studies in the English language.
- Studies related to the culture of English-speaking countries.
- Studies in English Linguistics.
- Studies on methodology applied to English.
- Studies in translation and interpretation in English.
Validity of accreditation
The accreditation loses its validity when five complete consecutive school years have elapsed without teaching the English subject.
Suspension of the computation of the validity of the accreditation
The computation of the validity of the accreditation will be suspended while the accredited participates in bilingual exchange programs or teaches in English in educational centers of countries whose official language is English.
