To avoid leaving traces of the web pages you have visited on your computer, there are two options:
Incognito mode browsing
Enabling incognito browsing in a browser prevents the browser from keeping track of the websites you visit and the content you download.
Incognito windows look different than regular windows. The top of an incognito window is usually gray or blue, depending on the browser it's opened in. To open an incognito tab, follow these steps:
- 1 Option:
1. In the Internet Explorer menu bar, click on the Tools option. A menu will be displayed.
2. Click the New InPrivate Tab button.
- 2 Option:
1. Right-click on the Internet Explorer icon.
2. Select the Start InPrivate Browsing option.
- 1 Option:
1. Click on the Firefox menu icon , located in the upper right corner of the browser window.
2. Select New incognito window.
- 2 Option:
On a link, right-click and choose the Open link in a new private window option.
- 1 Option:
1. Click on the Chrome menu icon , located in the upper right corner of the browser window.
2. Select New incognito window.
- 2 Option:
On a link, right-click and choose the Open link in a new private window option.
1. Click on the Safari menu and select the private browsing option
2. Confirm to start private browsing.
Clear browsing history
Another system to avoid leaving information on your computer about the sites you have visited is to delete your browsing history. To clear your browsing history, follow these steps:
1. In the Internet Explorer menu bar, click on the Tools option. A menu will be displayed.
2. Click the Delete browsing history option.
3. Select the boxes for the categories of information you want to remove.
4. Select the Keep data from favorite websites check box to keep the cookies and files associated with the sites on your favorites list.
5. Tap the Delete button.
1. Click on the Firefox menu icon , located in the upper right corner of the browser window.
2. Select History. Another menu will be displayed.
3. Select Clear recent history. A window will open.
4. Check the boxes for all the data you want to delete, including the Browsing and download history box.
5. Click the OK button.
1. Click on the Chrome menu icon , located in the upper right corner of the browser window.
2. Click on History, a new window will open.
3. Tap the Clear browsing data button. A dialog box will appear with different options. To delete all browsing history, select the origin of the times from the drop-down menu. And check the boxes for all the data you want Chrome to delete, including the Browsing History box.
4. Click the Clear browsing data button.
1. Click on the Edit tab.
2. Select the Preferences option.
3. Click the General tab, and right-click Delete history items.
