The Community of Madrid begins the process to search for families that host minors under guardianship during the school year

The Community of Madrid is in the process of selecting families who want to participate in the A course in family program, an initiative that allows warded minors residing in shelters to leave these facilities and live in homes during the school year. .

Promoted by the Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Affairs, this new edition has set the objective of providing this experience to 66 children and adolescents between 6 and 17 years old, who are under the guardianship of the regional Executive.

The proximity of the home to the educational center and the place where the minors usually live are some of the factors that are taken into account when selecting families. Likewise, people who participate in the program will have the support of the regional government at all times to manage and resolve possible doubts, difficulties and needs that may arise.

This program, coordinated and managed by the General Directorate of Childhood, Family and Birth Promotion and the Host Family Associations, has the collaboration of the Soñar Despierto Foundation and aims to promote this form of coexistence, which improves growth social and personal of children.

A family course, managed to ensure that last year 27 minors lived in 27 homes, with important benefits for both parties. This initiative is complementary to foster care, which covers 1.895 children in the region.
