The Community of Madrid sponsors the 20th stage of the 78th edition of the Cycling Tour of Spain, which will take place on September 16 starting in the municipality of Manzanares El Real and finishing in Guadarrama. The route runs entirely through the region and includes ten third-category mountain passes along 208,4 kilometers, being the longest of the 21 days of racing. The following day the finale of the Spanish round will take place, which will start from the Zarzuela Hippodrome and end with the peloton traveling through an urban circuit through the Paisaje de la Luz of the capital, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021.

During his presentation at the Real Casa de Postas, the Madrid Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Mariano de Paco Serrano, highlighted the "firm commitment" of the Community of Madrid in promoting sports practice "due to the physical and mental health it reports, the values it transmits and as an economic engine and for the dissemination of cultural, environmental and leisure heritage”. Madrid has 182 clubs and 3.813 federated cyclists, of which 3.412 are men and 401 women.
