The Community of Madrid remodels the headquarters of 22 town halls so that they are fully accessible to its citizens
The Community of Madrid, through the Regional Investment Program (PIR), acts in the offices where 22 town halls are located in order to guarantee that they are buildings that are fully accessible to all its neighbours. Among the reforms, the elimination of architectural barriers and the installation or replacement of elevators, the construction of emergency stairs, the repair of roofs and roofs, the renovation of gas boilers and electrical installations and the change of doors and windows to, In addition, optimize energy consumption.

One of the benefited municipalities is Tielmes, a municipality that the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, visited today. In addition to Tielmes, improvements have already been carried out to guarantee accessibility in the municipalities of Ambite, Anchuelo, Arganda del Rey, Buitrago del Lozoya, Estremera, Pezuela de las Torres, Pinilla del Valle, Robledo de Chavela, Torrejón de Ardoz , Alcobendas, Belmonte del Tajo, Horcajuelo de la Sierra, Madarcos, Piñúecar-Gandullas, La Serna del Monte and Titulcia.

Of the 1.000 million euros that the PIR 2022/2026 has, 61% are used to finance new plans for small and medium-sized municipalities. Specifically, the current Investment Program has earmarked 41 million euros for new projects in the southeast of the region, which is 21% more than the previous one.
The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration has stressed that, thanks to this Regional Investment Programme, whose figure is the highest ever dedicated to this end, "it is possible to undertake dozens of works that contribute to improving public services, promoting economic development and, ultimately, to increase the well-being of residents”. Achieving settlement of the population and advancing territorial balance, with special incidence in the smallest towns, is another of the priorities of the Madrid Executive, García Martín concluded.
