The Community of Madrid participates in the first edition of the Field Festival to promote local food
The Community of Madrid participates in the first edition of the Field Festival organized by the Association of the Field and its Customs, to promote local food and bring agricultural and livestock work closer. This meeting will be held at the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela in the capital from May 26 to 28.
The Minister for the Environment, Housing and Agriculture, Paloma Martín, today visited the Madrid producers participating in this event and pointed out that "local products are growing in quality year after year because the primary sector and the regional agri-food industry are increasingly competitive in the national and international market”.
This event has an extensive free program of activities, with gastronomy, children's workshops, shows, concerts, culture, leisure, crafts and sustainable fashion as protagonists. The objective is to promote healthy and traditional life, giving priority to nature and supporting local suppliers to encourage the consumption of zero kilometer products.
The regional government will have two institutional tents, one of them with a traveling exhibition in which different panels will collect actions in the field of biodiversity, conservation of steppe birds, hunting, fishing or the new Arco Verde project, which currently unites 15 municipalities in a circular green arc. Environmental training workshops will also be given. The second space will be dedicated to rural Madrid, with information on the wide range of tourist attractions in the Sierra Norte and Oeste de Madrid, the Sierra de Guadarrama and the area of Las Vegas and La Alcarria.
The agri-food promotion also has the participation of four of the regional agri-food quality figures who will offer tasting and sale of their most outstanding products. These are Campo Real Olives, the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Carne de la Sierra de Guadarrama and the Denominations of Origin Wines and Oils of Madrid.
In addition, two honey producers will be present, SAT El Jabardo and Madrid Miel, certified by the regional Organic Agriculture Committee. And there will be a point of information and distribution of promotional material M Certified Product, where this seal will be announced, which guarantees the good production, preparation or transformation of food, combining tradition with innovation and excellence.
