The objective of these works to improve the complex is the placement of a new carpet of artificial turf on the grounds dedicated to the practice of rugby, which total an approximate area of 13.615 square meters, between a large and a small field, and the installation of a modern automatic irrigation system.

In addition to providing the most suitable conditions for this sport, in terms of safety and comfort, the action will facilitate easier maintenance. On the other hand, it is aimed at the venue being approved by the Rugby World for the dispute of matches of national and international category.

This intervention is in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport to turn the Puerta de Hierro Sports Park into a national benchmark for the sports it houses, which include, apart from rugby, beach volleyball, tennis , paddle tennis, golf, archery and skating, among others.

In addition, its 15.800 square meter swimming pool and children's pool have turned this public sports center into an emblematic leisure space, which occupies an area of 300.000 square meters in a natural environment of the capital.

Specifically, the regional government plans to invest up to one million euros a year over four years in the Puerta de Hierro Sports Park, to which another two million euros from European funds will also be allocated, according to the plan designed to make sport accessible to all the people of Madrid, guaranteeing the maintenance, reform and improvement of the facilities.
