Alert: prevention from school
At the IRSST, we understand the vital importance of learning during childhood and adolescence. For this reason, we want children and adolescents in the Community of Madrid to learn prevention content and skills throughout primary and secondary school.
At the Regional Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, we have been bringing a culture of prevention to different educational levels and groups for several years. We are convinced that children, young people, and people with disabilities who acquire these skills will, in the near future, be professionals who contribute greater safety and well-being to their workplaces. Therefore, our latest alert compiles the most important information for promoting occupational risk prevention from schools.
Prevention Week in Primary and Secondary Schools
The Regional Institute for Safety and Health at Work, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Universities, has a project called Prevention Week aimed at promoting and disseminating preventive culture among students and teachers in primary and secondary education.
The program aims, through actions such as workshops, theatrical performances or escape room, promote the principles of safety, health and well-being to apply them at home, in schools and in the community.
Education for people with disabilities
The Regional Institute for Occupational Health and Safety of the Community of Madrid, in its goal of promoting a culture of equal prevention, seeks to ensure that knowledge of occupational risk prevention also reaches groups with disabilities, as a way to enhance their safety and well-being at work and facilitate their integration into the professional world.
In collaboration with Afanias, the IRSST School of Health and Wellness aims to train people with intellectual disabilities in the skills and tools necessary to perform their work in the best possible conditions, focusing on a comprehensive health strategy based on three pillars: physical, mental, and social.
The project, told through the comic Zii's Journey, 100% accessible, it has already allowed many people with disabilities to learn healthy work habits in an original and different way.
In collaboration with various associations (Plena Inclusión, Fundación Juan XXIII), people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are offered training that qualifies them to perform basic functions in occupational risk prevention.
At the same time, these courses promote awareness, responsibility, and the performance of occupational safety duties among the group.
Multimedia
At the IRSST, we have educational resources to facilitate learning about occupational risk prevention at different educational levels. Among them, we have several videos adapted to primary school levels to facilitate understanding and integration of the concepts.
