30 Anniversary

• The Transfusion Center of the Community of Madrid celebrated its 2018th anniversary in 30 with the motto 'We are the heart of Madrid. 30 years pumping life'.

  The blood donor database has 1.400.000 people who have donated more than 3,5 million bags of blood in these three decades. Over 1,5 million liters of life that have allowed more than 800.000 people to be transfused.

  In addition to managing blood donations, the Transfusion Center (CTCM) has studied and registered 34.000 bone marrow donors and has processed and cryonized 8.000 units of umbilical cord blood. Some donations that have made it possible to transplant 593 patients with leukemia or other diseases that require a hematopoietic stem cell transplant for their cure.

  The Blood Transfusion Center took advantage of the 30th anniversary celebration to show its gratitude to the retired workers who had dedicated their effort and involvement to donating blood for so many years. The act was chaired by the Minister of Health, Enrique Ruiz Escudero and the managing director of the Center, Luisa Mª Barea.
