El Open Data Catalog of the Community of Madrid gives centralized access to the data sets, or data sets, offered in open formats, for reuse by citizens. Each dataset has a series of Metadata according to the NTI and one or more means. The resources are each of the formats in which the dataset information is offered. In some cases, a dataset can offer several resources in the same format, with a historical purpose or other criteria.
The catalog has a free search engine, and a faceted search engine that allows navigation through different classification criteria:
* Group: thematic classification established by the Information resource reuse interoperability technical standard.
* Format of your resources: json, csv, wms, url, zip, etc.
* Tags: public transport, air quality, gender, Madrid, etc.
Depending on the format of the resource, different types of display. For datasets with a geographical component, an interactive map is offered, which can have historical evolution such as the Registry of De facto Unions.

The platform used for the Catalog is C KAN, free software widely used in the public sector, which has been designed by the Open Knowledge Foundation (OK F). You can find more information about the functionalities of CKAN here.
Open Data Catalog API datos.comunidad.madrid/api
The Open Data Catalog offers a programming interface oriented to reusers through the API data.community.madrid/api. Its about REST API CKAN software standard, which offers query functions on the content of the catalog and each of its datasets.
You can use the API Wizard available in csv resources to build specific queries on a dataset. To check the use of the wizard click "API Wizard" in Network of Air Quality Stations.

Terms of use
Acceptance of terms of use
Access to the data sets that the Community of Madrid publishes on this Open Data portal implies acceptance of these Terms of Use, the purpose of which is the protection and promotion of the commitment that the Community of Madrid has with the reuse of information from the public sector and, in this way, allows the recipients of the data sets to contribute to the growth of the community by contributing the benefits obtained from the exploitation of the same.
The conditions of use of the data sets made available by the Community of Madrid are covered by current regulations: Law 37/2007, of November 16, on the Reuse of Public Sector Information, by which it was transposed Directive 2003/98/EC of the European Parliament.

A user of the Open Data service of the Community of Madrid - hereinafter "user" - is defined as the person or entity that uses, reproduces or distributes the data sets offered, as well as those who develop applications or services using data offered for this service.
License applicable to the reuse of data
The use of the data and services provided in this portal presupposes the acceptance of these conditions of use. Accepting them will not generate recognition to the user of copyright or intellectual property over the data sets.
In each set of data offered in the Open Data service of the Community of Madrid, the specific license that applies to it is indicated. In general, the data sets are published under the terms of the license Creative Commons - Attribution (CC-BY 4.0) , which enables:
- copy, distribute and publicly disclose.
- serve as the basis for derivative works as a result of its analysis or study.
- be used for commercial or non-commercial purposes, provided that this use does not constitute a public administrative activity.
- modify, transform and adapt.
- The authorship of the Community of Madrid must be mentioned.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, the data sets of the Regional Transport Consortium of the Community of Madrid have different and personalized licenses based on their peculiarities, the description of which appears in each set.
In addition, in accordance with Law 37/2007, the reuse of the information contained in the data sets is subject to the following general conditions:
- that the content of the information is not altered.
- that the meaning of the information is not distorted.
- mention the source.

The Community of Madrid reserves the right to publish data sets under other specific conditions of reuse, as well as the possibility of generating the payment of economic considerations, in accordance with the provisions of article 7 of Law 37/2007, the amount The objective of these considerations will be to cover the costs associated with the production, reproduction and dissemination of the data sets, and may not, in any case, exceed said costs. These considerations will be made public along with the data set.
Recognition
In cases where it is mandatory to acknowledge authorship and mention the Community of Madrid as the source of the data sets, it must be done as follows:

It is also recommended to mention the date of the last update of the data sets.
The user is urged to inform the Community of Madrid of all projects related to or derived from the use of data sets, so that they are exposed publicly in order to stimulate the information reuse policies of the public sector.
Likewise, the Community of Madrid may require the user to provide statistical data related to the products or services generated from the reused information, in order to know the actual use of the reuse of the information and to improve the catalog of available data.
Warranty and liability on data sets
The Community of Madrid will do everything possible to adequately offer the data sets, comply with the update periods for each of them, ensure their integrity, availability and completeness, although it cannot fully guarantee this.
The Community of Madrid may, at any time, add, delete or modify the published data sets or these conditions of use. The announcement of these changes will be published on the website Comunidad.madrid/gobierno/datosabiertos. Any changes that are carried out will be effective from the moment of their publication, unless otherwise indicated.
Any modification or transformation carried out on the data sets published by the Community of Madrid will be identified as such at the time of distribution.
The Community of Madrid is not responsible for the damages or losses that, directly or indirectly, also those that involve economic, material or data damage, cause or may cause the use of data sets.
Responsibility of the user for non-compliance with the conditions of use
The user is subject to Law 37/2007, of November 16, on the Reuse of Public Sector Information, especially its sanctioning regime, as well as all regulations that affect the use of information, such as the Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights, and Royal Legislative Decree 1/1996, of April 12, which approves the revised text of the Intellectual Property Law.
If as a result of non-compliance with the terms of use set forth in this document or the terms of the license under which the data sets are published, the Community of Madrid, or any of its agencies, entities or companies, were the subject of legal action or was financially sanctioned, the user will be liable to the Community of Madrid, or to its agencies, entities or companies, for all expenses, including procedural, sanctions or compensation that may be declared,
In this way, the user agrees to indemnify, as well as exempt, the Community of Madrid and all its agencies, entities and companies, from any liability they may incur for claims that may arise due to non-compliance with these conditions of use or for the use, reproduction, modification or distribution of the information.
The Community of Madrid, on the other hand, reserves the right to take the corresponding legal measures to safeguard its interests, without this implying that the user waives responsibility and compensation.
Other restrictions
The reuse of any set of data for illicit purposes or against the rights of individuals, entities or public administrative action is not permitted.
