Comprehensive restoration of the parish church of San Salvador in Leganés
Works included in the Agreement between the Community of Madrid and the Ecclesiastical Province of Madrid
The history of the construction of the Church of San Salvador It is part of a period from the end of the 1701th century or the beginning of the 1707th, until the Churriguera altarpieces were completed, in the years 1720-XNUMX and in XNUMX.
The oldest part is the pentagonal apse, with stonework, completed around 1570. In 1584 the tower was built at the foot of the temple, but it would be replaced by another, when around 1660 the temple was enlarged with its current structure. The works finished in 1676, and Felipe V commissioned the replacement of the main altarpiece and the execution of all the others that are preserved today.

restoration project
The restoration project aims to solve the important structural pathologies that affected the building, as well as the rehabilitation of its facilities. The main interventions are:
- soil improvement foundation under the church tower.
- Complete replacement of the wooden structure of the cover.
- Crack repair in the vaults
- Repair of joints in facades and anti-humidity treatments by capillarity in affected lower parts.
- Implementation of a air-conditioning system underfloor heating.
- Renovation of the Lighting system inside.
During the carrying out of these works, which carry an archaeological follow-up, rthese wall paintings, that will be put in value, in two columns, as well as on the access doors to the baptistery chapel and on the access door to the interior of the bell tower.
