III Survey of Social Perception of Cultural Heritage
Are Madrid residents aware of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Community of Madrid?
Survey content
In 2024, the Community of Madrid declared flamenco and falconry Assets of Intangible Cultural Interest, joining a list of seven other intangible assets previously declared. The Third Survey of Social Perception of Cultural Heritage in the Community of Madrid has focused on this heritage and the level of knowledge and appreciation of it held by Madrid residents. What does intangible heritage mean to them? Do they believe the government should protect and promote it?
The survey also includes traditional practices and knowledge, such as dry-stone wall construction, recognized for its historical and cultural value in the region, and esparto grass art, currently being evaluated for possible declaration as a Site of Cultural Interest.
As a strategic action of the Community of Madrid's Heritage Education Plan, the survey also analyzes citizens' cultural habits, interests, and preferences, with the aim of serving as a guide for the development of actions that promote knowledge, social appropriation, and enjoyment of heritage.
