Taste chulas potatoes or visit the Ulpiano Checa Museum... while the Tajo marks the southern limit of Colmenar de Oreja. In the southeast of the Community of Madrid, this town was declared a Site of Cultural Interest due to its historical importance, its urban evolution and the large number of unique elements of architectural, ethnographic, industrial and historical interest, in a town that largely preserves the original urban layout and residential architecture from the 17th to the 20th centuries.

Some of the most important landmarks are the Church of the Santa María la Mayor,, the the Hermitage of Santo Cristo del Humilladero,, the Royal Monastery of La Encarnación del Divino Verbo,, the Diéguez Municipal Theater or Ulpiano Checa Municipal Museum. Its particular gastronomy offers specialties such as the cool potatoes, the cowboy ratatouille, the roast kid and the pools: a kind of candeal bread sandwich in which the crumb is substituted by a minced onion, tomato and pickled sauce.
