That's how it was...Weaving Day Past 2022
III Edition of the Conference Weaving past, held on April 26, 2022 in the auditorium of El Águila
The III Edition of the conference Weaving Past It was proposed as the first meeting of specialists dedicated to the study and dissemination of the establishments of consecration to feminine spirituality in the Community of Madrid. In this period, Madrid became one of the main spaces for the most outstanding spiritual and religious innovations, to which the link of some of its convents with the nobility, the Crown and the Court must not have been unrelated.
The conference, which was framed within the investigation promoted in this matter by the General Sub-directorate of Historical Heritage, sought to recover and disseminate knowledge of monasticism and other forms of religious life, as a fundamental space for female experience in past societies . From these scenarios, women of all social extractions found alternative ways of life to marriage and ways of action and influence in the societies of their time.
The female convents. Spaces, powers, cultures
The conferences given by prominent professionals and researchers favored a first approach to the matter with the aim of making women's lives visible and initiating a multidisciplinary dialogue that covered multiple topics, from power relations to daily life with very diverse approaches: the forms of daily life, the economy, architecture, urban planning, art history, archives, music or archaeology.
La scientific coordination of this third edition was carried out by Ángela Muñoz (University of Castilla la Mancha) and Isabel Baquedano Beltrán (Protection Area of the General Subdirectorate of Historical Heritage).
