That's how it was... Águila Suena Festival 2023
The Madrid scene. Nobody could stop
In its third edition, the Águila Suena music festival paid tribute to the Madrid movement forty years after its emergence, apogee and decline. The El Águila patio hosted a program that recovered the spontaneous, plural and kaleidoscopic spirit that crystallized in the Madrid scene, where music was, among other disciplines such as cinema, the plastic arts or fashion, one of the most creative and effervescent of the cultural trepidation that was going through the city.
Águila Suena 2023 brought together iconic bands such as Nacha Pop and Mamá and chatted with some of the main protagonists of the movement such as Álvaro Urquijo, Ana Curra, Servando Carballar and Rubi.

Watch Águila Suena's musical talks again
In the musical talks of Águila Suena, its protagonists remembered the Madrid of the eighties, in which mythical temples emerged such as Rock Ola, Pentagrama (better known as the Penta) or the El Sol room, among many others. They all hatched, on the edge of the underground, bands like Alaska and the Pegamoides, Kaka de Luxe, Tos (later Los Secretos), Radio Futura, Nacha Pop, Glutamate Ye-Yé, Mamá, Paralisis Permanente, Objetivo Burma, Los Nikis, Aviador Dro, Siniestro Total, Los Bólidos and an endless number of bands that displayed, during the first years of the decade, both the most diverse aesthetics and the most disparate longevities.
From a heterogeneity of sound manifestations, the musical movement was a new wave, avant-garde and incandescent that, without any kind of holding back, claimed the fun of making uninhibited, frenetic and surprising music.
