Chinchón
A Plaza Mayor worthy of the limelight
With an urban centre declared a Historical-Artistic Site in 1974, Chinchón is one of the most beautiful towns in the south east of Madrid, in the basin of the Tajo-Jarama rivers and just 45 kilometres from the capital.
Su Plaza Mayor, which is often used as a film set, has a good number of emblematic restaurants and is the setting for the famous bullfights of Chinchón. But one of the main tourist attractions is its gastronomy: roasts cooked in a wood oven, garlic soup, stew, convent sweets and the product that has made it famous: anise.
Do not forget to visit the "La Posada" Ethnographic Museum,, Casasola Castle,, the The Church of the Asunción,, Lope de Vega Theater, Augustinian Convent (National Parador), the the Convent of the Order of Saint Claire and and the Castle of Los Condes.. You can also discover natural spaces such as Lagunas Casasola and San Galindo or El Pingarrón.
