Year 2019, Berlin

Photographer and model couple at Fashion Week in July. They attract attention before entering the parade building, located near the central Brandenburg Gate. There are photographers who are also stars and also like to pose as models. The glass of the lens turned into a mirror. This is, therefore, a back and forth portrait with predominant reds. It was a windy morning. It is a meteor of unforeseen scope that rarely favors a portrait. Here it gives a touch of action in the hair that I took advantage of.

Year 2014, Buenos Aires

Around the Bond Street Gallery, young people with punk, gothic and emo aesthetics gather. These historic shopping arcades of music-related clothing and accessory stores are a must-see. It was a normal afternoon, but he knew he would find something. I was not wrong. The problem was finding a background without graffiti doodles, which are more related to the hip hop aesthetic than to this emo couple. Seeing that clear glass door with its geometry that dialogued with the girl's skirt and that the color of her hair matched that of her boy and the black clothes that matched… I already have the portrait, I thought.

Year 2012, Casablanca

In countries with an Islamic tradition, young women have fewer options to wear hairstyles, earrings, skirts... Casablanca is the most modern Moroccan city and in those days a Fashion Week was held, which was interrupted a few years later due to lack of support. The place was the old colonial cathedral, which once deconsecrated, is used for cultural and artistic activities. This girl was the winner of a clothing contest of her own creation. In that context it was normal to photograph her. Maybe on the street I don't know if she would have wanted to or would have gone out like that. The reddish light from the floor gives a disco atmosphere that suits this creative leather and tulle look very well.

Year 2018, Cape Town

It is the most European city in Africa. There, fashion tries to have a weight in the country's economy. Fortunately, racial integration in South Africa is on the rise. One of the tourist attractions is to visit the Malay neighborhood of Bo-Kaap, with its houses painted in very bright colors. Of course it was me too. By chance I ran into a young photographer who was doing a photo shoot for three girls who seemed to be friends of his. When they finished and were having a drink on a terrace, I asked if I could take a picture of them and they said yes. I did about ten group and individual. I chose this as my favourite. It is a play of blues and she gets a small reflection of the sun that came from the glass of a nearby window.

Year 2014, Hanoi

It is surprising that in a relatively undeveloped country with a communist regime, a very powerful youth culture is beginning to take place, especially in Ho Chi Minh, the formerly called Saigon. In addition, in Asian countries, tattoos have been part of everyday aesthetics since before the West. Modern life is also beginning to take place in its Vietnamese political capital, Hanoi. This photo is not taken at any fashion event, but on any given day. His profession as a stylist already says it all, what is called a fashion victim. Many times that attitude goes hand in hand with a huge love of music. Here you can see two samples: the headphones and the word punk.

Year 2018, Lisbon

Its Fashion Week is a mixture of Europe and Africa, due to the usual models that parade from former colonies, such as Angola or Mozambique. That gives it a transversal air that gives it identity. One of its venues is the central Parque Eduardo VII. There is always good light there, good reflections. In this case, the intense sun and the mirror of a cafeteria enhance the portrait of this model that I photographed with her clothes before becoming a martial actress on the catwalk with spectacular clothes, but difficult for everyday life.

Year 2019, London

During Fashion Week in February. It was cold around The Store X, the Strand Avenue venue where the shows were held. This guy looked like a state-of-the-art astronaut. He combated the low temperature with a lot of green and with his glasses he protected himself from the gazes. Also, the building was under construction. A black wooden fence surrounded the rehabilitation. An ideal background alien to the famous photocall logos. I like to photograph those who in the future will cease to be public and will become the meat of the show business.

Year 2018, Madrid

During the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, before Pasarela Cibeles. I am in Ifema and it is July. Guaranteed heat. It is not a model. He is a creator on the street and his look is so absorbing that the eyes go to him. Direct sunlight hits him squarely and does not blind him, but enhances the portrait thanks to the glasses the color of the high-heeled boots. I photograph him seated naturally despite his mannequin posture: a multicolored shop window bird without glass.

Year 2018, New York

The iconic capital of the United States has been the birthplace of youth street cultures such as hip hop. There is a tradition of street photography. Its population has always been used to appearing in photos. There is a visual level. And if on top of that, Fashion Week is being celebrated on those days, let's not say. This guy was one of the invited attendees at her shows at Spring Studios in the TriBeCa area. I deduced from his appearance that he was Latino. I was right, he told me Peruvian. It is the luck of this city that there are more and more Hispanics. He was dressed entirely in Prada, that is to say, all expensive. I asked him to stand at the entrance of that very New York building. He put the rest.

The official headquarters and office of Parisian fashion events has long been the Palais de Tokyo, an art exhibition center near the art deco-style Trocadero. It is an ideal scenario. But sadly, to avoid the celebrity-hungry masses, they don't advertise where the star brands' runway shows are. The average fan has to settle for coming here alone to see some aesthetic oddity. There I saw this boy with such a masculine look, plus his work computer around his neck, but the scarf of a film actress from the 50s upsets the convention of men's/women's fashion. This photo would be a good example that fashions return, but in different bodies and intentions.

Year 2019, Sao Paulo

Every Sunday the enormous Paulista Avenue of this immense Brazilian city becomes pedestrianized. A spontaneous festival of people strolling alone, as a couple or in a group. For photography, any of these afternoons is good. The street is a daily party in a country that stands out for how festive and sensual it is. A single long T-shirt and a few extended curls are enough. The rest helps: a pillar wall of a building that is an icon of contemporary architecture: the MASP Art Museum.

Year 2017, Seoul

The Hongik University district is the favorite area for shopping or drinking among young people. There are also pedestrian walkways with music groups performing in designated areas. Ideal for finding people willing to be photographed. They want to compete with Tokyo, even if it is impossible. The contrast of the white of her dress and shoes with that dark brown background enhances the color of her hair, similar to that of her backpack. She was so attentive to the portrait and it was so hot that the ice lolly was dripping and she had to turn it upside down to avoid staining it.

Year 2017, Shanghai

The Summer Sonic Festival is celebrated. The girl was leaving the subway on her way to the massive meeting of music and trends that is held every summer in this Chinese megalopolis. Being a country with a communist regime, even the striking pints are in the minority. That's why I was surprised by the color of her hair, the yellow of her sunglasses and the green of her niki. Added to that was the white, artistic wall of the nearby building. I didn't hesitate. There was a photo.

Year 2017, Tokyo

The shopping area of ​​Takhesita Street in the Harajuku neighborhood and the adjacent streets that end at Omotesando Avenue are a visual paradise for photographers who like the latest youth trends. That is a spring. And, in addition, we are in the capital of the country of the great photographic brands. The perfect Storm. Being photographed is a pleasure for those who walk these streets, sometimes more than to go shopping, to become a photograph. This girl is one of many examples.
